I have been living in a small village on the edge of the Anklam City Wetlands for three decades now. The landscape and dynamics of the nature reserve "Peenetal River Landscape" have fascinated me from the very beginning and captivated my heart.
For years, I have been offering tours for tourists and locals to share my enthusiasm with them. For the past 10 years, I have been volunteering as a nature conservation warden and area manager for the NABU Foundation in the Anklam City Wetlands.
Recently, I have also taken on the responsibility of monitoring around 20 pairs of white-tailed eagles in and around the wetland.
The Peenetal River Landscape Nature Park, as the largest contiguous river valley peat bog in Central Europe, is truly unique. The biodiversity of its flora and fauna is unmatched. Currently, over 180 bird species have been recorded, and the population density of white-tailed eagles is the highest in all of Europe.
